She, in 3D {3}: Meet Kenyatta!

Hey Ladies! And Gents?

Welcome to another addition to "She, in 3D"! I didn't post this past Thursday because of the Thanksgiving holiday, but we are now back in action and this week you will be presented with not one, but two gorgeous and inspirational ladies! Sit back, chillax and get ready to take some mental notes! :-)

Today I'm featuring a gorgeous young wife and mother. I first saw her skating at a local skating rink about 7 years ago, yes SKATING, like from the 1970's "roll bounce" era and let me tell you, she's tight! I've seen her sing and dance at a local Valentine's show production. For the past year or so we have been members of the same church and I've been wondering why she hasn't joined us in choir yet... *hint hint*. Not only is she multi-talented, but she's also a locally well-known entrepreneur. This year she began a new journey into her role as a wife and next year, she and her husband are expecting another bundle of joy! Talk about an abundance of blessings! Alright, enough of my rambling...

Everyone, meet Kenyatta!

Hey lady! Tell the readers a little about yourself, family, and business endeavors.
My name is Kenyatta Gant, I am 29 years old and I just recently got married on May 5th, 2014 to my wonderful husband Byrell Gant! We have 2 beautiful daughters with another baby on the way!  I work as an Administrative Assistant at an Architectural Firm. My hobbies are spending time with my family, going to church, singing, and growing my business. I am a Freelance Makeup Artist and I am the CEO of my cosmetic line PinkLipps Lipstick Collection. PinkLipps was started in September 2011. I started PinkLipps because my daughter was so in love with lip gloss, so I wanted to create something for her! The line includes 20 lipsticks, 6 lip glosses, and PinkLipps clothing. PinkLipps has been featured in a total of 6 magazines; 2 being online magazines. PinkLipps was also featured on "Better KC" on Channel 5 in January 2013.

Those are good accomplishments! Getting in some practice for when you're one of the big names at IMATS :-) How did you get where you are today?
I owe it all to God with dedication and patience! My mother is one of my biggest supporters and she played a big part in my growth which made me the woman I am today. I've always been a self-starter and I keep my mind on the prize.

Who or what inspires you on a daily basis?
My husband inspires me to be a better servant to God. To walk in his word, completely! My daughter is the reason I never give up. She's watching my every move and I have to be the best example to her.

Most definitely! At this point in your life, what do you believe is your purpose?
I believe my purpose is to be a testimony to young girls and women who feel empty. At one point in my life, I felt empty and hopeless. I know my struggle and the steps I took to overcome those things can help many women all over the world.

Name three things in your life you are most {humbly} proud of.
The 3 things in my life that I am most humbly proud of is that I am a wife, a mother, and a child of God!

Do you have any life altering situations or events that required some sacrifice on your end? Things you had to give up in order to grow in certain areas? Explain how you adapted.
When I had my daughter at the age of 23, I thought my life was over, when in reality, life had just begun. I had to grow up immediately and put myself last. I had to be an example when I didn't think I was ready. God prepared me for real life when I had my daughter. I am forever grateful for that. I am forever to be a mother.

There was a time when I was in the club EVERY weekend at all the top events and even just to go and be seen. I would drink, I would flirt, I would dress un-ladylike, I would curse, I would fight, I would stay out all night, I would even drive home drunk! I had a baby at the age of 23 and that experience still didn't grow me up. I was lost, I was a back-slider, I put ALL things before God. Until one day I woke up and wanted to change. Honestly, I didn't change for God, but for a man. I was ashamed and I didn't want him to see me that way. So I went out occasionally. I drunk less, I covered up my body a little more, I didn't stay out the whole night. But that still wasn't enough. That change wasn't enough for God. I still felt lost, and even more of a back-slider. Eventually me and him both decided to stop doing those things and it was HARD!! Real Hard! Something I had been doing for 15 years straight had to stop just out of nowhere? I started to question God, "why can't I go to the club and still follow you?" The answer was simple. God is a jealous God and he doesn't want us to put anything before him! I knew then I had to choose.

God puts people in our lives for a purpose. At 1st God alone wasn't enough. I'm not ashamed to say that. It took meeting my husband to get God's message through to me. My husbands dedication to God was so inspiring I had no choice but to follow. He lead me back to Christ. With Christ now being the head of my life, I'm STILL FLAWED, but I'm thankful for my husband, and I owe it all to God! GOD SAVED A WRETCH LIKE ME!

This is NOT to bash anyone who goes to the club. This is for anyone who needed to know that God can save even the biggest sinner, and he loves us in spite of. Don't give up on God, cause he won't give up on you! John 3:16.

Awesome testimony! I completely agree that God has a purpose with everyone He puts in our lives. Looking back, is there anything in your past that you would like to have done differently?
I have no regrets but I wish I would have listened to my mom more. Mothers are always right! Lol!

If you could change one thing in your life right now, what would it be?
If I could change one thing in my life it would be to not be so reliable on my 1st job. I plan on stepping out on faith very soon, and solely becoming an entrepreneur.

What are some short-term and/or long-term goals you hope to accomplish?
Short Term Goals are just to continue to grow my business. Long Term Goals are to open a PinkLipps Storefront here in KCMO.

How do you recover from moments of discouragement? What do you do to re-energize and keep a positive outlook in order to continue towards your goals?
I recover from moments of discouragement by being my own confidence builder. After awhile of feeling discouraged; which doesn't last too long, I simply tell myself to STOP THE PITY PARTY and get to work!! I also pray and meditate and ask God to relieve me all worries. I keep a positive outlook by knowing success doesn't happens overnight and what God has for me will be.

What advice do you have for readers regarding your life experiences?
My advice for readers reading this would have to be, just stay focused. Put God 1st while making all decisions. Keep positive people and loved ones in your corner.

Where can readers find you? (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, webpage, blog, etc.)
I can be found on Facebook as "Kenyatta PinkLipps Gant". On Instagram and Twitter as @PinkLippsCEO. On Youtube as PinkLippsMUA. My website is www.pinklippscollection.com. Email is pinklipps4u@gmail.com.

If you would like to be featured or know someone who you would like to see featured, feel free to email me. I prefer consistently POSITIVE  women who display a positive attitude and demeanor at all times. College degrees and education does not matter. We all have a personal story of victory that can encourage someone else and that's really what this is all about. I do have standards though.
