She in 3D {8}: Meet Brittany!

Hey Ladies!

I told you all I have some great features planned for 2015 and I will not disappoint! :-)

Today's featured guest  is a gorgeous fashionista and successful businesswoman who shows us that with prayer, self-confidence, dignity, and determination we can push through personal barriers and accomplish anything we put our efforts to!

Everyone, meet the fabulous Brittany!

Hey Britt! Tell the readers a little about yourself! Your family, job title, accomplishments, hobbies, whatever you would like to share.
I am a 26 year old UMKC college graduate with my bachelors in business administration enterprise management. Currently a technology sales executive at a healthcare IT company called Cerner. My work experience is in human resources and sales. I am the youngest person and only African American woman in my role. I am the oldest daughter of three girls and I am completely family oriented.  I love to bake, act, do hair and mentor ladies on their self-worth and the fashion that fits their personal body shapes.  I am a strong believer that the only thing that will make you happy is being happy with who you are and not who people think you are.

Go Britt! That's awesome! How did you get where you are in your career?
Both my parents instilled in me the importance of hard work and nothing being handed to you. If you wanted a certain future you had to ensure it happened. In college I was a part of a minority internship program called inroads. I encourage every college student to take part of some internship. Internships not only allow you the work experience to stand out from other applicants but it also allows you to network with different professionals. Networking is key to advancement in your career.

Thanks for sharing! I need to ask my sisters if they're aware of that.

What or who inspires and influences you and why?
My biggest inspirations are my parents. My father came from a poor single mother home and worked hard to become the businessman he is today. My mother also educated and successfully taught me to never be ashamed of whom I am and the skin I am in. She has taught me the definition of confidence and stood in patience as I found it in myself.

That's beautiful. Your mother seems like a very admirable woman :-).

What has been one of your biggest obstacles? What were some key actions you took in order to conquer it?
My biggest obstacle in life has been myself. I am truly my biggest critic. I struggled with low self esteem, insecurity and not knowing my self-worth. I struggled with this in my personal life and work life. Through prayer and a supportive family I have overcome a lot of this. I know that I am wonderfully made and God put me in this world to be me. If he wanted me to be anyone else, he would have made me them. It is hard to succeed in life if you are pulling yourself back. Let the chains off of who you are and let yourself reign in your full potential.

Preach! A lot of women need to hear/read that and declare it {including me}. I can most definitely relate.

What are three things in your life you are most {humbly} proud of?
1. Graduating college.
2. Wining the Price is Right showcase.
3. Making my parents proud of the woman they have raised.

I can't even begin to fathom how proud of you your parents must be.

Looking back, is there anything in your past that you would like to have done differently?
If I could change anything in my past,  I would have moved out of Kansas City. I love my city but feel you are only as great as your surroundings. If I want to effect change on a national level I have to reach a platform greater than the comforts of my own city…. Its never too late, a move may be in my future.

If you could change one thing in your life right now, what would it be?
If I could change anything right now I would be in WAY better shape. I know that a healthy body increases a healthy mind. This is a daily battle for me.

How do you recover from moments of discouragement? What do you do to re-energize and keep a positive outlook in order to continue towards your goals?
Hate to admit it but I am a crier. I cry let out everything that I am feeling and then I let it go. As the tears come out so does my frustration. Once I release it, I leave it where it fell. Sometimes an emotional release is needed. Doesn’t make you less of a woman simply allows you to not keep it in. I read my bible, sing praise music and spend as much time with my family as possible. My family is my source of laughter and laughter makes everything better.

What advice can you give the readers?
Never let yourself be defeated. It is ok to have your weak moments or your emotional moments but let them be just that, moments. Do not dwell on the negativity. Continue to press forward in progress and never go backwards to anything in your past. Be like locomotives, they never go backwards, it requires way too much energy. Just keep moving forward.

If you would like to be featured or know someone who you would like to see featured, feel free to email me. I prefer consistently POSITIVE  women who display a positive attitude and demeanor at all times. College degrees and education does not matter. We all have a personal story of victory that can encourage someone else and that's really what this is all about. I do have standards though.
