5 Favorites Friday {*Must-Have* Shopping Apps}

If you have been reading my previous blog posts regarding shopping or if you know me personally, then you know I love to shop, I just don't like to pay full price! I stopped cutting grocery coupons a long time ago so I look for less time consuming ways to save.

Here are my top 5 most favorite apps that I use to help save money on our grocery and other shopping purchases. Enjoy!

1. Ibotta (Google Play & iTunes)

I have been hearing about this app from a few of my favorite bloggers for the past couple years but ignored it because it seemed like too much, but I just downloaded this app early this week and I love it! I have already earned close to $6 which really isn't bad! $2 of that came from a reward of $1.00 for 1 gallon of milk :-) We go through nearly 2 gallons a week.

How it works: Basically, there are certain (super quick and simple) tasks you have to complete in order to unlock cash back rewards. Purchase the items at the store. When you get home scan each eligible item you purchased and then scan or take a picture of the receipt. Once you get up to $10+, you can cash out using Paypal or Venmo. That's it! You can also receive cash back from shopping retail stores through Ibotta online.

Combine this app with store and manufacturer coupons for greater savings!

2. Shopkick (Google Play & iTunes)

This is another app I found this week and adore.

How it works: You can receive "kicks" from visiting different retailers, scanning specific store items, and purchases. Once you reach a certain amount of kicks (500 kicks = $2 fyi) you can redeem kicks for giftcards.

3. Shopular (Google Play & iTunes)

My cousin introduced me to this app a couple of months ago and it's the best {dot} net for shopaholics like you and me!

Shopular displays all the best retail store coupons and sales from fashion & beauty to electronics and home decor. Show the coupons in store to get your discount. When you have an account you can save your favorite stores and receive sale notifications when you're close by. You can also view store ads/circulars.

4. Target Cartwheel (Google Play & iTunes)

I have used this app for about 2 years now. Cartwheel can only be used at Target. You can save anywhere from 5% to 50% on items you buy.

How it works: You search and save deals within the app that you want to use. Shop those items (of course). When it's time to check out, pull up the barcode in the app for the cashier to scan and wallah!

You can also combine Cartwheel coupons with Target store coupons (printed and text) and manufacturer coupons for greater savings.

5. RetailMeNot (Google Play & iPhone)

RetailMeNot works the same way as Shopular, accept you can't view store ads/circulars. I have used this app for a couple years now.

When you have an account you can submit online coupons codes and printable coupons. You can also rate and comment on deals and coupons to let other users know if the coupons are valid or not.

BONUS!
If you shop at Walmart, be sure to take advantage of their Savings Catcher program!

How it works: If a local competitor store offers a lower advertised priced on eligible items you purchased at Walmart, you can receive the difference on a Walmart Rewards eGift card or a BlueBird by American Express card. You can only use the cards at Walmart. So basically, you shop at Walmart for items that are on sale at other locals stores. If you have the Walmart app you can scan the QR code at the bottom of your receipt OR (my way) when you get home, enter the receipt TC# on the Walmart savings catcher website and wait to be rewarded. You have 7 days to enter your receipt code.

Want to see what I have earned so far?

I'm not cashing out yet, just showing the cash out options. I'm saving up to buy something I've been eyeing for a little while...

A few other apps I have heard of and plan to try are:

  • Favado
  • Coupons.com
  • Red Laser

If you know of any other apps please share below! Thanks for reading! :-)
