A Simple, Delicious Meal
Random fact about me is... this may sound a little "off", but even though I like to try new recipes, I don't really like to cook. Thing is, I have a family that loves to eat. I cook 4-6 days a week and I love VARIETY! We stay away from fast food as much as we can! It's NOT easy.
My beautiful, most wonderful stepmother, I say she's my "bonus mother", I could ever pray for, is from New Orleans and she can cook like none other!! I will ONLY eat her gumbo. I've never tasted better than hers and I've tried many a' Gumbos. Everything she cooks is ridiculously delicious, even her chicken wings. Mouth is watering thinking about 'em.
Onto this meal...
My kids and me visit my parents almost every Sunday and a few Sundays ago when we were there she made these really good potatoes with sausage and onions. Very simple, but good. So, of course I had to get the "recipe", more specifically, what seasonings she used. First, a photo of how my plate turned out.
A little different than how she made hers, I think she mixed onions with the potatoes.
On the potatoes: Rosemary, thyme, garlic salt, pepper, extra virgin olive oil. Easy, right?!
I just sliced the potatoes in semi-thin slices, about 1/4 of an inch, put them in a baking pan uncovered for about 30 minutes on 350.
Nothing was necessary on the sausage & onions, they naturally have their own delightful flavor. I used Farmland beef smoked sausage.
Confession: I'm an onion addict. I can eat sauteed buttered onions by themselves.
My kids LOVED it! They all kept saying how good it was. My daughter asked if I put grass on the potatoes because of how rosemary looks. Kids are so cute. My husband loved it as well. As for how I liked it, it was alright, I mean, you know, don't want to toot my own horn [TOOT! TOOT!]. Haha.
