My Boys New Closet Shelving

I'm very much a diy kinda woman. I could watch hgtv and the diy channel all day if I could. My husband and I recent finished my sons closet. It's not perfect, but it's much more functional than before.
We didn't use any closet kits, we bought rods and necessary hardware, melamine boards, cut, and nailed. My husband installs windows and doors so we had all tools on hand. We had two dressers in their room, now down to one, which has most of my youngest son's items. I moved the bigger toys to the play area in our basement. I also got rid of a lot of toys. I plan to paint the closet walls when I paint the boys room. I got this idea from  http://ana-white.com/. Customized it to fit my son's cubbies at the bottom.

UPDATE: July 31, 2012. A week ago I lowered shelf above the books, the one with the piggy bank, and added another shelf in between that and the top shelf with clothes on it.

This is what was previously in my sons closet with toys in it. It's better used for my baby boy now. Less toy storage means less toy collection!
